UNSO-2 switch heating system

The UNSO-2 switch heating control system is intended for control and remote supervision of switch heating systems. As an innovative feature, it co-operates with the switch status monitoring system operated by supervisors working at the Dispatch Centre or mobile users and displays full information on the condition of each switch (temperature, heater current, damage, etc.).
Depending on the ordered equipment, it is possible to gradually extend the functions of the device, starting from heating control depending on switch temperature (only local control) and additional control functions enhancing the work of maintenance teams (remote starting and disconnection of heating), up to complete remote monitoring at the dispatch centre (remote reading of current heater values, alerts in the case of burning heating elements).
The system is also able to communicate with WS90E switch controllers fitted with their own monitoring devices, which reduces the implementation costs of complete monitoring and provides a wide overview of the tram infrastructure.

System components

Configuration of the UNSO-2 switch heating control system is presented in the attached documentation. The master controller of the UNSO system (MASTER) acts as its basic element, responsible for the analysing of environment conditions, controlling actuators, communication with the monitoring centre and powering of devices (also including local SLAVE systems). Depending on the equipment, it can perform the following functions:

1. Heater current control and measurement (with fuse damage signalling)
2. Triggering of local controllers
3. Outdoor temperature measurement
4. Rain/snow precipitation measurement
5. Data transmission to the monitoring centre

Compatible local slave controllers (SLAVE) performing control over switches located at a distance from the master controller are provided. Depending on the type of equipment, they can perform the following functions:

1. Control and measurement of heater current (with damage signalling)
2. Start of heating at local substations

Control of local devices may be delivered both at low voltage (24 V DC) and high voltage (660V DC). In the case of low voltage control, power is supplied locally from the catenary network instead of a local controller installation. In the case of high voltage control, heater power is fed from a master controller and should be housed in separate ductwork or by means of an appropriate installation mounted on catenary network posts.

All the devices are available in 2 versions:

1. Standard - intended for 4 or 8 heaters
2. Universal - suitable for a higher or unusual number of heaters

MSO 1 switch heating controller

The MSO-1 switch heating controller is intended for intelligent tram switch or switch set heating control. Its operation is based on temperature measurement of a rail located in the vicinity of the switch. The current temperature value and device status are indicated on a LED display.

The device works on the basis of a microprocessor system monitoring the operation and decoding of signals transmitted by a digital temperature sensor placed near the switch rail. The applied signal transmission method prevents the misreading of a temperature value and enables the detection of sensor damage. The occurrence of any error or damage of the controller triggers the heating.

The device is powered from the catenary by means of a DC/DC transformer with a galvanic insulation of electronic circuits.

In the standard version, the controller is equipped with a main fuse, transformer fuse and individual fuses of all output heaters. If the separation of heater circuits is necessary, a special controller version is to be ordered.

Detection of rail vehicles
DZT track occupation detector
The track occupation detector is intended for the detection of tram track section occupation and triggering of road traffic lights. The device co-operates with infrared OP-03 receivers controlled by infrared NP-03 transmitters.

The DZT controller can be applied in such locations where the tram must trigger traffic lights without the use of switch controllers (e.g. at road crossings) and in other places where the detection of rail vehicles is necessary.

The device is constructed on the basis of a microprocessor system analysing the signals received by infrared OP-03 receivers. As soon as a correct code sequence is decoded, appropriate device output values are set (closure of a contactor for a short moment or the track occupation time). Thanks to the storage of serial numbers emitted by tram transmitters, there is no possibility of releasing the contactor until the last tram leaves the scanned section. Internal control and security systems guarantee correct operation of the system even in adverse weather conditions.

By means of special deliveries, non-standard control designs or extensions of device functions can also be provided. For particularly important sections, it is possible to deliver the DZT controller in a version of increased operational security (with doubled receivers).

Upon request of the customer, the track occupation detector can be delivered in the form of a module embedded in a traffic light housing. The dimensions and type of the module connector are agreed upon during order placement.
